invivodata Launches Certified Service Providers Program for its
Electronic Patient Diary System
More Than 1,500 Individuals Already Certified in over 20 Countries
PITTSBURGH, PA. July 08, 2003 invivodata®, inc., the industry
leader in patient self-report solutions for clinical research,
today launched its Certified Service Providers Program for clinical
research organizations (CROs), site management organizations (SMOs),
and individual study sites. This certification program enables
study sites and CROs around the world to develop and hone their
skills in helping patients deliver high-quality patient self-report
data, helping to ensure study sponsors that their trials will be
successfully executed.
Utilizing an invivodata certified partner gives study sponsors
confidence that the team that is executing their study has experience
with electronic diary systems and has demonstrated expertise in
executing these important studies.
The CROs and SMOs play an important role in clinical research,
especially in those studies that rely on valid patient self-report
data,. commented Sara McKenzie, senior program manager at Sepracor.
.invivodata knows that training these execution partners will ensure
that our subjects are successful in delivering the data that we
need. This certification program further increases our confidence
that as our needs grow we will continue to realize the solid results
we have come to expect from invivodata.
Electronic diaries are an effective way to capture patient self-report
data,. said Vita Lanoce, M.S., director of operations at Radiant
Research, Inc. We expect to see a shift away from paper diaries
to this enhanced way of collecting those data. Electronic patient
diaries are more efficient for the sites, easier for the patients
and deliver better data to the sponsors. Radiant has worked successfully
with invivodata in the past to execute studies using the invivodata
patient self-report system, and we look forward to a continued
partnership.
Early in the study start-up process, invivodata will provide study
sponsors with a Certified Service Providers directory identifying
sites and CROs that are trained and certified in the deployment
of the invivodata electronic patient diary system. While invivodata
can train any site and CRO that the sponsor chooses, sponsors will
recognize the value of the training and experience of the Certified
Service Providers. And, as invivodata has completed more than 60
clinical trials and certified more than 1,500 service provider
staff, sponsors already have many service providers from which
to choose.
Tapping a large and growing population of highly skilled service
providers enables invivodata to expand their capacity to quickly
meet the ever-increasing demand for the invivodata electronic patient
diary system. One of invivodata.s partners, PPD Development, a
leading global CRO, is a prime example of a certified provider
with the experience and training of successfully applying this
technology in clinical trials.
invivodata has always employed a comprehensive education program
to train and certify site coordinators and monitors who are participating
in clinical trials using our electronic patient diary system. We
created this Certified Service Providers program to ensure that
all those companies who have invested in getting certified receive
the recognition they deserve for acquiring these new skills,. said
invivodata President and CEO Doug Engfer.
There is a growing trend toward using electronic patient diaries
in clinical trials and, consequently, an increasing demand for
personnel to be certified on this technology. Seventy five percent
of all clinical trials collect patient self-report information
and more than 33 percent of those trials use diaries to collect
those data. We are seeing an increased demand for electronic patient
diaries. The challenges with self-reported patient data collected
with paper diaries are well known,. commented John Farinacci, President
of ResearchPoint, a full service CRO. .The electronic diary option
expedites the delivery of high quality patient data. The key to
this success is a combination of technology, training, and communication.
ResearchPoints. technology enhanced CRO services together with
invivodata.s science and technology has proven to be a value added
proposition for our sponsors.
Service providers can take invivodata certification courses in
the following areas: site monitoring, study monitoring, data management,
or training. The program for trainers will vary according to the
number of areas in which they want to be certified. Service providers
who would like to learn more about this new program can visit invivodata.s
