AUSTIN, Texas -- October 12, 2004 — ResearchPoint, a full-service
contract research organization (CRO) based in Austin, announced
today that Robert J. Davis, Pharm.D., has joined the company as
Chief Operations Officer. Davis brings over 20 years of drug development
experience to ResearchPoint. His background includes senior management
positions in the pharmaceutical, CRO, medical device, and biotechnology
industries.
"Dr. Davis' diverse background, coupled with his proven track
record of success in drug development and in the CRO industry,
provides ResearchPoint with a Chief Operational Officer second
to none in our industry," said John Farinacci, ResearchPoint
President and CEO.
As Executive Vice President of Sensus, a biotech company founded
in Austin and subsequently acquired by Pharmacia (Pfizer), Davis
was instrumental in the successful registration of Somavert®,
a growth hormone receptor antagonist, in the US, Europe and Japan.
Davis began his CRO career at Pharmaco (now PPD) where he was Vice
President, Anti-infective Drug Development Services, and later
Executive Director of Clinical Development. Following his career
at Pharmaco, he served as President at BRI (now Quintiles). Additionally,
Davis worked in management positions at Parke Davis and Searle.
Dr. Davis received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University
of Maryland.
Davis has extensive regulatory experience having worked with the
FDA, EU and Koseisho in Japan. He has filed INDs, NDAs and requests
for orphan designation to all three agencies, and was part of the
team to submit the first electronic NDA to the Division of Endocrinology
within the FDA. He participated in a group chosen to work with
the FDA to write the initial guidelines for developing anti-infective
drugs in the United States.
"A critical component in a rapidly growing organization is
the experience and cohesiveness of its management team. Bob Davis
will enable ResearchPoint to manage this growth and ensure our
strong customer service and quality doesn't waiver," said
Farinacci.
